    Tuberculosis is by far the most frequently encountered mycobacterial disease in the world. Among the infectious diseases, it is the commonest cause of death in adults and after acute respiratory and diarrhoeal disease, in children. The disease is preventable and treatable but it has been grossly neglected and no country is immune to it. Tuberculosis is a speciality journal focusing on basic experimental research on tuberculosis, notably on bacteriological, immunological and pathogenesis aspects of the disease.
